success and failures

Hello world!

Is anyone else here experiencing as much difficulty developing only two successful and unsuccessful experiences to discuss in Part D? I am not? Good!!! Makes me feel that little big better. No joke these last few days I have been trying my very hardest to pick only two for these sections to talk about as I experienced so many. My entire lessons developed both had successful and failure to them in one way or another and others were just evident to a side only. To try and minimise how much I am writing in these sections has been extremely difficult. I found myself reflecting so much it nearly reached 1000 words just in that section and having to decrease it dramatically. Good luck to you all in sticking to the world limit during this reflection time, it has been a challenge!

Until next time 😊

I LOVE WHAT I DO

Hello world!

Today I did some exploring of my fellow EDC3100 classmates blog posts and came across Kerry’s blog post “gotta love those little preppies” which got me thinking what exactly are my favourite parts on being a teacher and why is it I love my job so much. Then I came across this image and basically sums up what I would spend hours trying to explain and find words to describe.

Until next time 😊

Assignment 3

Hello world!

Holly cow it is assignment time all over again!! After already have written part be for our Assignment 3 I couldn’t help but look back and admire how much I have learnt over prac about integrating ICT in the planning and lessons. So many DO’S and DON’TS have been developed, I would love to hear your perspectives and what you have acquired during your own experiences.

DO’S

– IWB effectively supports collaborative work

– get to know your resources

– supervise at all times

– create effective power points

– let students be involved in process

DON’TS

– expect you know how to use technology without practice

– use nothing else but ICT resources for entire lesson

– expect children to not go on other games or websites

– perform activity in front of students and not involving them

– not using time management skills during lesson

Had to be said

Hello world!

After reading An’s blog, I can’t help but also agree with him entirely!!! I’m sorry university but I have found that u have learnt nothing in this course that was able to support me during prac. Don’t get me wrong I have learnt a lot about ICT however not what I have found I needed to know in preparation for prac. This subject has taugh me mostly theory as to why ICT is important however no real understanding has been acquired on how ICT can be used in a classroom. This knowledge was developed through own personal trial and errors, I have honestly gotten the most out of this subject through my 3 weeks of prac, rather then engaging in the course content itself. Am I the only one experiencing this or what??

Until next time 😊

Moderation

Hello world!

I WENT TO MODERATION!!!!! 😬

During my second week of prac I was given the most amazing opportunity to attend the moderation meeting with my mentor. It was the most nerve racking and exciting experience of my life as I was able to take a peek in the inside world of marking student assessment. During the time of 3 hours I sat and participated in critic ins other educators from other schools marked assessment pieces along side my mentor. Even got given opportunities to put my view and say in and critic one on my own. Before this day I never understood how educators marked work; even after the Assessment and reporting class.

Until next time 😊

FACE PALM MOMENT

Hello world!

No words can describe my stress level during my second week of prac! I was so organised and planned my very first fun lesson involving the interactive whiteboard. Therefore you can imagine my mixed emotions, full of nerves and excitement. I do admit though, I didn’t exactly do any research about IWB just put pieces together and watched my mentor perform and activity with it. Ad the lesson progressed it was time to play the fruit splat game together in taking turns. For some strange reason the IWB was failing to recognised the students touch when attempting to slap the fruit. So I did what all of us would do and improvised the lesson, hiding my absolute panic! Just continued to get the students to point out the fruit and I clicked on it. It wasn’t until after the lesson was over I realised that the reason as to why the IWB wasn’t recognising the touch was because I didn’t plug the cord in that connects it with the laptop….. FACE PALM MOMENT!!!! That was probably the most embarrassed I’ve ever felt in my life!! Comment if you dare to share your most embarrassing technology moment during prac..

Until next time 😊

Awake from the dead

Hello world!

Boy has it been a while since my last posts so much has happened over the last few weeks during my disappearance I don’t even know where to begin! Maybe I’ll just skip to Prac as I believe that is what’s on everyone’s mind these last few weeks with assignment 3 underway. As I reflect on my prac, I have learnt so much that will forever change my perspective on teaching and what kind of teacher I want to become. At the beginning I was a bit worried about how using ICT in my lesson plans would go, however it is through lots of practice I have fallen in love with the idea of integrating ICT in learning experiences, occasionally!! I managed to use ICT in basically ever lesson developed in some way or another, in which the students really enjoyed as the mentor hardly ever uses it in her teaching.

Until next time 😊
